But I digress. I'm currently playing Dishonored 2 again and every time I finish a level, High Chaos (Lethal/Assault) are my stats (below) and I have a giggle (after all, it is a game):
Do you agree that life circumstances affect the way you play a game? I've never agreed with this pov but lately I'm changing my mind. Life has thrown me a series of curve balls - accidents, betrayal and emotional abuse - and now I'm going around in Dishonored 2 killing everyone instead of being merciful! Feels good! Now actually, this being my second playthrough of course I want to change it up - I know my way around now, I know that the repurcussions of playing lethal instead of stealth aren't that big or important, I know that npc's are just characters and not the protagonist, and I know lethal is faster than stealth - things are over and done with and so the story moves on. So it's not all reactionary, and yes I disagree with the current notion that violence in games begets violence. Not so. I would never murder someone and we definitely don't carry guns on us in Australia, well I don't.
Which brings me to another digression. I was moderator on a graphics forum for 14 years and some of the ladies were up in arms (pun intended) saying that it was ok to carry a gun in their handbag to the shops, just in case. Just in case what? I have not yet heard of one case in America when there's a mass shooting that ladies take their gun out of their little handbags and shoot the guy who's murdering people at a concert, school, kindergarten, theatre. So why carry the gun and then not use it if you're so intent on protecting yourself and others?!? Let's just say it - America needs to do something about guns. Copy Australia.
Back to the topic in question. So from stealth to lethal. It seems a clear choice, but then next time I will highly likely play stealth again.
Mebbe.
